New year’s Eve is usually a celebratory evening to go out, have fun, forget about the current year and usher in the new year with a new attitude. At Mekki DC, we took a different approach. We decided to use this opportunity to let the neighborhood of Capitol Hill and Washington D.C. understand a mission of ours. We are here for the community. We want you to have the best Moroccan experiences through our healthy, flavorful dishes and homely service, but we are partnering with initiatives that our owner and management want to contribute to their awareness.
This is why we partnered on New years eve with We Will Survive Cancer (www.wewillsurvivecancer.org) to raise funds towards helping family members of cancer patients, survivors and victims. Gayela Bynum, the executive director of the organization, visited with members of her board as we supported this cause. Enjoy the photos below of our New year’s eve Festivity & Fundraiser dinner party. We successfully raised funds towards 2 families that recently lost family members due to the disease.
